Amphibian winner stream starts in 1 hour
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 12:18:33 AM

The amphibian poll is now closed, and the winner is the red-eyed treefrog with 226 votes! There were a total of over 500 voters. Thanks to everyone who voted!

Winner: Red-eyed treefrog

The race was tight between the blue poison dart frog, tiger salamander, and red-eyed treefrog, with the treefrog snatching the win with a margin of less than 10 votes!

Congratulations to the colourful champion!

I will do a live stream as I draw the winner on the game’s market board. The stream begins in one hour at 10:00 UTC+3. Drop in the stream and say if you have time!

Join the stream!

Discontent White-headed Lemurs
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 20, 2020 at 04:38:34 AM

The fifth animalfolk deck introduction is here, this time about Discontent White-headed Lemurs! Let’s get started.

White-headed Lemurs

Lemurs are some of the wealthiest folks throughout all of Daimyria. They’ve been prosperous as long as they care to remember. What they don’t have, they can purchase without a second thought. Unfortunately, this has created an atmosphere where lemurs seek fulfilment for their lives from physical possessions and never feel quite content with what they have. The highlights of a day might include the royal family’s newest scandal or a new unique garment made by a famous fashionist.

Usually, you have to consider long and hard on what you want to purchase from the market – not so much with lemurs. If you get bored of a card you have, just throw it away and get a replacement for it! Players will cycle through the market and the market deck at high speed when lemurs are around!

As we have only one deck left to introduce, the Scheming Green Magpies, there’s no need to vote on it. Which decks have been your favourites from the entire series that you have played so far? Mine are still the chameleons from the original Dale of Merchants!

Amphibian poll is now open
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 20, 2020 at 04:33:51 AM

The third poll has been started! Now you get to decide which amphibian makes an appearance on the game’s market board.

Palefolk poll

We received 116 suggestions for amphibians with 57 unique entries. Here’s the top 10 candidates we selected. Go vote for your favourites here!

The poll will close on the 22nd of May, and until then you’re more than welcome to share the poll with your friends! I will livestream drawing the winner the same day. Check the more detailed schedule on the project page.

You can still suggest your favourite mammals here for the last poll.

I do want to give a shout-out to Axolotls. Of those 116 suggestions, 25 were for these cute little fellows. We thoroughly discussed the matter internally and at least for now, we can’t add them in Daimyria as an animalfolk. They live almost their whole lives underwater, and such an animal isn’t suitable as an animalfolk. Daimyria’s integrity is really important to us and we can’t currently come up with a way to add Axolotls in a believable way. If we invent some way to overcome this matter in the future, we’ll surely add one of everyone’s favourite amphibians in!

Prepared Grizzled Tree-kangaroos
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 18, 2020 at 08:21:04 AM

With half of the animalfolks introduced, you voted Prepared Grizzled Tree-kangaroos as the fourth deck to learn more about!

Grizzled Tree-kangaroos

Kangaroos are known to be some of the most trustworthy folk in Daimyria. In contrast, gaining the trust of a kangaroo can be a tough task – they’ve lived in the middle of some of the nastiest animalfolks for generations. Always preparing for the worst, you’re never going to surprise a kangaroo!

While kangaroos are excellent at protecting their valuables against some wily fellows, they can prove to be useful even during peaceful games. With the help of kangaroos, you can store your cards for a rainy day and laugh at your opponents!

Which animalfolk from the two remaining should I introduce next time? Vote in the comments below!

  • Discontent White-headed Lemurs
  • Scheming Green Magpies

Fan-made solo variant gameplay

While Dale of Merchants doesn’t officially support solo play, there is a fan-made variant over BGG in which you’re tasked at trying to overthrow the Company, a shadowy group ruining Daimyria’s economy! Mason Weaver originally created the variant and it’s (non-official) lore and Benji T. later developed it further. Mike from One Stop Co-op Shop filmed a nice playthrough of the variant which you can watch below.

Bird winner stream starts in 1 hour
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 18, 2020 at 08:21:02 AM

The bird poll is now closed, and the winner is the wood duck with 317 votes! There were a total of over 700 voters. Thanks to everyone who voted!

Winner: Wood duck

First, it was pretty clear that the river kingfisher was going to win the poll. However, that was before Jesse from Quackalope rallied his pond to vote for the duck!

Congratulations to the handsome guy!

I will do a live stream as I draw the winner on the game’s market board. The stream begins in one hour at 20:00 UTC+3. Last time I had some troubles with YouTube’s new streaming dashboard but those issues should now be fixed. Drop in the stream and say if you have time!

Join the stream!
